Play Nine Men's Morris Online

Create a public room and wait for an opponent, or use a private room to invite a specific friend. The host chooses White or Black before sharing the link or room code; the joining player automatically takes the other side, and White moves first. Visitors who open a game already in progress without holding one of the original seats join as spectators.

Create a room

Choose a room type, then use its link or room code to invite a friend.

Room type

Public rooms use a shorter code and appear in the public list for anyone to join. This browser can keep only one public room at a time.

Join a room

Paste a friend's share link or enter the room code. Join a waiting room to start playing; a game already in progress opens in spectator mode.

Tip: Leaving a room does not end the game. The host can return through My rooms below or close the room. If both players leave, it expires after about 20 minutes. Room codes are used only for this match and do not store personal information.

Choose the Room Type, Then Set the Sides

Create a public room to wait for an opponent in the lobby, or a private room to invite a specific opponent. The host selects White or Black; the joining player receives the other side, and White moves first. After both seats are occupied, later visitors enter as spectators.

Options for creating a public or private Nine Men's Morris room

Public in the Lobby, Private by Invitation

A public room appears in the lobby, where any visitor may take the open seat. One browser can keep one public room waiting at a time. A private room is unlisted, not password-protected: anyone with the complete link or room code can open it and take a seat if one is available. Treat the invitation as an access credential and share it only with the intended opponent.

The Host Selects; the Joiner Takes the Other Side

While the room is waiting, the host may switch between White and Black. The next player is assigned the unclaimed side, and the game starts with White to move. Once both seats are occupied, anyone else joins as a spectator. Spectators can follow the position but cannot replace a disconnected player or submit a move.

Shared Moves Have No One-Sided Undo

Each placement, movement, flying move, and mill capture is validated and added to the shared position. Because both devices receive the update, the room provides no unilateral undo. If the connection drops, the same browser can restore the original seat. After both players leave, the room is retained for about 20 minutes rather than indefinitely.
